The Fisherman – Retouch Comparison

This blog is so much better at displaying my retouch comparisons.
I hope this feature shows up as well on other operating systems.
If anyone encounters any viewing problems, please let me know so that I may correct it…thanks!

I didn’t originally plan on the title ‘Fisherman’. My first choice was ‘Little Brown Riding Hood’. But since Fred was actually a fisherman, it seemed appropriate.

In his early 20′s, Fred commercial crab fished aboard the ‘Majesty’, on the Bering Sea in Alaska. Commercial fishing has the highest fatality rate, making it the most dangerous job in America. Alaskan king crab fishing is considered even more dangerous than the average commercial fishing job, due to the conditions of the Bering Sea during the seasons they fish for crab. The death rate during the main crab seasons averages out to nearly one fisherman per week.

Fred really enjoyed his time fishing. He recently purchased the ‘Deadliest Catch‘ series on DVD, and watching it brings back many memories. I was working on this photo while he was watching an episode, and that gave me the idea for the title ‘Fisherman’.

4 light set up:

- 2 AB800′s in 12″ x 36″ strip boxes (w/grids) on side & slightly behind subject
- AB800 with 7″ pan reflector on floor aiming at seamless Thunder Gray background
- Triggered with Cybercyncs
